We stayed at Pioneer Lodge for 3 nights on
our trip to Zion National Park. The lodge is located in Springdale
just a mile from the park's south entrance and visitor's centre.
The free Zion shuttle bus runs through Springdale as well and there
is a bus stop just outside the motel so you could leave the car at
the lodge as cars are only allowed in Zion NP as far as the
visitor's centre. The lodge is motel-style and we had a first-floor
room which was clean and comfortable. All essentials were present.
I found the staff to be nice and helpful. There is a large common
balcony which offers some great views of the mountains. The lodge
is AAA rated. My only regret is that we couldn't make use of the
pool since there was a storm every evening (bound to happen if
you're visiting in August). They also have their own restaurant;
we had breakfast there and we were satisfied. There are plenty of
places to eat and buy souvenirs and essentials within walking
distance, including a small grocery store right across the street.
We were happy with our stay and the price we payed. Recommended!
